As Easter arrives I once again find myself encouraged to create a new holiday claymation. In this case going with the recurring characters of the "Butters" family that I created. This one focuses more on Izzy, Charlie Butters daughter as Easter bunnies, eggs, candies and chocolates are more for the kids. This script I came up with fairly quickly but I'm sure it will make you laugh. Click the video above to view the cartoon.

In this cartoon Izzy leaves her room in the middle of the night and heads to the living room. After mom yells downstairs to make sure she is in bed she replies that she is just retrieving her teddy bear, "Barry." But when she goes to the couch she confides in Barry that her real motive is to stay up an catch a glimpse of the Easter bunny. Laying down on the couch next to Barry she soon finds it difficult to stay awake and decides to go to sleep for a few minutes.

Hearing a noise she wakes up to see a huge bunny in their living room. The bunny promptly hops around the room as Izzy chases it in an attempt to make it her new pet but the bunny isn't interested. Suddenly Charlie wakes Izzy up who was apparently just dreaming of the bunny asleep on the couch. Izzy asks where the bunny is but her parents tell her that he left her some candies and chocolate. After the family head out the door to go see grandma for Easter the bunny peers out from behind an armchair and hops off.

Overall this claymation cartoon was made very quickly. Primarily because Easter was so close and we were swamped by many different things that just had to be done. Despite this I would like to think we did our best. The set was one we already had a few things were used from other cartoons and we used a different couch in this one. This bunny we made the day we shot for the cartoon and it turned out quite well. Izzy's teddy bear "Barry," was a new addition to our props and will probably be used in future claymation cartoons along with Izzy.

The making of our claymation cartoon was once again a collaborative effort headed by myself but assisted by my wife and my daughter. Both contributed to the project making characters/props as well as taking on voice acting roles. I combined all of our efforts in Adobe Premiere CS5 with editing and adding sound/voices/animation and of course production/taking the shots for the stop-motion animation. We used our Panasonic GS-500 with controlled lighting and half second exposures. We hope you enjoyed this cartoon as much as we did making it and we wish everyone an awesome Easter.
